The Dover Police Department and US Marshal’s First arrested Dion Williams, 27, on Friday, September 13th on several charges stemming from the shooting incident that occurred at Janaid’s Salon on June 1st, 2019, officials said Monday.

After the incident, detectives obtained warrants for Williams for Assault 1st Degree along with several other charges related to the incident. Officials said the other party involved was Julius Johnson, 31, from the Dover area. Johnson was treated for serious injuries as a result of the shooting the same day of the incident but later succumbed to his injuries on July 5th, 2019, while Williams was still wanted on charges stemming from the incident.

On Friday, September 13th, 2019, Williams was arrested by the US Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force and the Dover Police Department in Sussex County. He was charged and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $87,000 cash bond on the following offenses:

The case remains under investigation and additional charges may be brought at a later time as further details are discovered and upon consulting with the Delaware Office of the Attorney General.

On Friday, September 13th, 2019, at approximately 9:30 AM, officers from the Dover Police Department transported Williams to the Kent County Court of Common Pleas after his arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 7, due to Williams having an active capias out of that court at the time.

Dover police transferred custody of Williams to the Capitol Police Department. On Monday, September 16th, 2019, it was learned by a Dover police officer who was preparing a press release on the arrest, that Williams had been released. It was later learned that a communication error by a Dover police officer led to the release of Williams once his capias was cleared.

At this time, Williams’ whereabouts are unknown. The Capitol Police Department is currently obtaining warrants for Escape 3rd Degree at the time of release.
