Delaware State University Lockdown Lifted, Officials Now Say No Shooter On Campus

The Delaware State Police are currently on scene along with the Dover Police Department and Capital Police assisting the Delaware State University Police with an incident that occurred on campus.

Delaware State University was made aware that some students reported receiving anonymous texts of a potential shooter on the campus.  As a precautionary measure, the campus was placed on lock down so that a thorough search of the buildings could be conducted.

There was no active shooter on campus and no shots have been fired.  There has not been any injuries reported as a result of this incident.  Further investigations are being conducted at this time.

Update

At 11:45 additional officers responded to the front gate and have told vehicle traffic waiting to get into the campus to move along. Vehicles are not being allowed in that gate.

Dover – At around 10:25 this morning reports began circulating that Delaware State University was on lockdown.

Students and staff have reportedly been placed on lockdown due to a threat. Officials said that Dover PD and Deleware State University Police have locked down the campus as they deal with concerns after an active shooter threat was received by text message.

There have been no reports of shots fired or injuries.

First State Update has received multiple reports from those with loved ones on campus. They are being told by officials that the campus is on lockdown due to several individuals receiving active shooter threats.
