Robber Gets Away With Money Order In Knifepoint Robbery

The Dover Police Department is investigating an alleged robbery that occurred on Sunday afternoon, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said at approximately 3:03 PM, a 62-year-old male victim reported that he had just purchased a money order at the 7-11 located at North DuPont Highway and Lepore Drive. The victim stated that a black male was in line behind him at the time.

When the victim was in the parking lot, the unknown black male asked for a cigarette according to the victim. The victim gave the man a cigarette and continued to walk home into The Overlook neighborhood. According to the victim, the male subject from 7-11 grabbed him from behind and threatened him with a knife, taking the money order from his pocket before fleeing back towards the 7-11 parking lot. The male subject reportedly entered a white Audi 4-door vehicle and fled.

The suspect was described by the victim as being a black male, mid-late 40’s, 6’2″, 240 pounds, with facial hair.
