Police: Man Arrested After Victim Was Beaten And Robbed

Georgetown Man Arrested for Robbery

Georgetown – Georgetown Police have arrested a man on charges of Robbery stemming from an altercation on Tuesday night, according to Detective Joey Melvin.

Melvin said on December 17, 2019, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Georgetown Police were dispatched to the 500 block of North Bedford Street for a reported robbery complaint.

Officers learned that the victim was standing outside of a business when he was contacted by two males. One of the males approached the victim from behind, wrapped his arm around the victim’s neck and began to strike the victim on the back, according to Melvin.

The male continued striking the victim until the victim fell to the ground. Another person on scene then stopped the assault and the suspect fled from the scene. After the incident, the victim noticed U.S. Currency had been removed from his wallet.

Officers identified and located the suspect shortly after the incident in the Royal Farms parking lot. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Anthony Masariegos 29, of Georgetown, was arrested for Robbery 2nd degree. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $6000.00 cash bond.
