Austin said during the incident which occurred at approximately 11:55 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020, a male suspect confronted an employee at the sales counter and demanded money, while implying that he had a weapon. The employee complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect who then fled on foot northbound on Concord Pike. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

Through various investigative measures, detectives were able to identify a black, Chevy Venture mini-van as a vehicle involved in the robbery, which was then positively linked to Pinkett, said Austin. On Wednesday, January 22, 2020, Troopers located the vehicle in the Duross Heights neighborhood of New Castle. Pinkett was also located in the area and taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle produced evidence further linking Pinkett to the robbery, said Austin.
