Troopers: Woman Found Shot Inside Pickup Truck, Passenger Window Shot

Georgetown- The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that took place earlier this morning, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on February 1, 2020, at approximately 3:56 a.m., when EMS was dispatched to the 100 block of Garden Circle in Georgetown for an unknown medical emergency. Upon arrival, EMS located a 39-year-old female inside an orange Toyota Tacoma suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by EMS to the Sussex Bayhealth Hospital and later transferred to the Christiana Hospital in serious condition.

An inspection of the vehicle by Troopers revealed that the front side passenger window sustained damage consistent with a gunshot.

Troopers do not have any suspect information at this time, according to Jaffe.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Troop 4, Detective Wideman at 302-856-5850.
