Photos: Two-Alarm Fire At Seven-Story Apartment Building In Claymont

Claymont – Just before 1:00 Sunday morning firefighters with the Claymont Fire Company were alerted to a fire at the Towers of Valley Run in the 27000 block of Valley Run Road.

While en route crews were told that residents may be trapped in the building and fire was shooting from the third floor of the seven-story building. Moments later crews learned that no one was trapped.

Crews from across northern New Castle County and southern Delaware County, Pennsylvania responding to assist were alerted by Claymont Deputy 13 that fire was, in fact, showing from the third floor of the building.

Within minutes of arrival, Claymont Command struck a second alarm which brought additional crews from surrounding companies. Crews from Saint Francis Healthcare EMS and Rehab Unit also responded to the scene.

Crews entered the building and found the fire in a bedroom of a third-story apartment.  Crews were able to quickly knock the fire down and bring the incident under control.

Initial reports from the scene incident that several people were treated for smoke inhalation.

Several suffer smoke inhalation after Claymont apartment fire. It’s not clear how many residents have been displaced.
