Police: Woman Found Dead In Boxwood Victim Of Hit-And-Run, Name Released

Just after 6:30 on Friday morning, New Castle County Police (NCCPD) confirmed that the body of a woman was found in the community of Boxwood.

NCCPD Spokesman M/Cpl. Michel Eckerd said officers were dispatched to the intersection of Laura Court and Champlain Ave for the report of a female lying in the roadway. When the officers arrived, they observed that the female had no signs of life.

When EMTs From the nearby Belevedere Fire Company arrived on scene they confirmed that the woman was deceased, according to initial radio traffic.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit and the Traffic Services Unit arrived at the scene and have assumed the investigation.

Detectives have determined the victim succumbed to her injuries as a result of a hit-and-run collision. The collision was deemed to have occurred early Friday morning, according to Eckerd.

The detectives have identified the woman as 43-year-old Kimberly Behrmann.
