Investigators: Man Injured In Black Powder Blast In Cecil County

North East, Maryland – Investigators with the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Bomb Squad are investigating an incident that occurred on Monday.

Officials said that a 22-year-old man sustained minor burns and lacerations when he was reportedly using matches carelessly which came into contact with a container of black powder.

Rising Sun Community Fire Company and Cecil County Department of Emergency Services Paramedics responded to Old Zion Road in North East, at around 1:11 pm. The man was transported to ChristianaCare Hospital via Rising Sun Fire Company EMS. He was later treated and released.
