Alert: Croda To Sound Emergency Sirens At 7:00 Tuesday

Croda Atlas Point to conduct a scheduled audible test of its “Croda Community Notification System” (CCNS) on  August 11, 2020, at 7 p.m. The CCNS is an audible alarm system designed to alert the community to an emergency, if ever needed.

The test will consist of a steady tone for five minutes, and the speaker, located at the corner of Cherry Lane and Lukens Drive in New Castle, is designed to be heard by people living and working near the Atlas Point facility. This radius includes portions of Collins Park, Swanwyck Gardens, Holloway Terrace and Simonds Gardens.

In cooperation with the local emergency management services, the CCNS test will be conducted in conjunction with a test of the Delaware Emergency Notification System (DENS). Local emergency management services are aware of the test. No action is required by residents who hear this test tone or receive the DENS notification.

The Community alarm was installed in January of 2020. Tests of the CCNS were conducted on February 11 and May 12. For the remainder of 2020, Croda will conduct regularly scheduled tests of the CCNS on August 11 and November 10. More information on the CCNS can be found at www.croda.com/atlas-point.
