Police: Man Robbed At Gunpoint In Downtown Newark

On August 11, 2020, at about 11:00 pm, a male was walking southbound on the sidewalk on South Chapel Street near East Delaware Avenue.

An unknown male suspect exited from a vehicle, grabbed the male victim, and pointed a handgun at the victim while ordering him to give him his property, according to police.  The victim surrendered personal property to the suspect.  The suspect then fled in the vehicle traveling eastbound on East Delaware Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s, 6 feet tall, 190 – 210 lbs, and wearing a black shirt with white lettering.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark gray 4-door sedan with a light-colored license plate on both the front and rear of the vehicle.  Pictures of the suspect vehicle can be found below.

The victim was not injured during this incident.
