Reports: Possibly Three Shot In Newark Saturday, One Confirmed Dead

Newark –  Just after 1:00 Saturday morning New Castle Police, along with assistance from surrounding police agencies responded to the Village Square Shopping Center on Marrows Road for reports of a shooting.

Rescue crews from Aetna, Hose, Hook & Ladder and New Castle County Paramedics were dispatched to the scene after 911 dispatchers received reports that as many as three people were shot at the scene, according to reports.

First State Update has confirmed that at least one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

At least one other patient is believed to have been transported to the Trauma Center suffering serious injuries. Reports of a third shooting victim have not been confirmed.

The area on the side of the Bob’s Tavern is cordoned off with yellow police tape. Detectives and officers were observed marking shell casings with evidence tags.

Update: At 6:00 Saturday morning NCCPD issued the following statement:

Today, (October 24th) at approximately 12:47 A.M., Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the Shoppes of Village Square shopping center for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, Officers discovered multiple gunshot victims. One male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit, Major Crimes Squad arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation.
