Police say a third person was shot during yesterday’s incident on Highland Boulevard, in the community of Sophia’s Place Apartments.

Officials said on Sunday evening at approximately 11:30 p.m., detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police were notified by troopers from the Maryland State Police that an additional victim from the earlier shooting in Wilton was located in the area of College Park, Maryland.

County Detectives traveled to the Maryland State Police Barracks in College Park and determined that the subject was in fact a victim of the shooting that occurred in Sophia’s Place Apartments, according to police. Police did not release details surrounding the victim, only saying that the 22-year-old victim was driven to the College Park area and was found deceased by the troopers.

On Sunday, police said officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Highland Boulevard, in the community of Sophia’s Place Apartments, for numerous reports of gunshots being fired.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they learned that two victims had already been transported by private vehicle to a local area hospital.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived and assumed the investigation. They learned that the two victims were 19-year-old males and were being treated for gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. The two victims were also listed as being in stable condition.

Sunday’s shooting was the latest in a string of shootings in Wilton and the surrounding area that County Police are currently investigating.
