Police: Victim Not Talking After New Castle Shooting Tuesday

Last night, Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2021, at approximately 11:10 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the unit block of Birkshire Drive in the community of Oakmont for the report of a shooting that had just occurred.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they learned that the 21-year-old, male victim had been shot in the upper thigh. The victim was then transported to a local area hospital and listed in stable condition.

Detectives arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation. They learned that the victim and his 19-year-old girlfriend drove into the neighborhood looking for an acquaintance. According to the victim, he exited the vehicle and was shot in the leg. During the interviews with the victim and his girlfriend, both became uncooperative and refused to assist with the investigation, officials said.
