Dover Police Identify Victim Killed In Quadruple Shooting

Hoffman said at approximately 11:08 p.m. on June 30th, a group of subjects was in the 100 Block of South New Street when shots were fired, striking multiple victims. It is believed that at least 46 shots were fired, based on shell casings recovered at the scene.

Officers from the Dover Police Department arrived on scene within 40 seconds of the shooting and began rendering aid to multiple victims that were injured. 19-year-old Tysean Nelson of Dover was located deceased in a vacant lot near the shooting scene as officers checked the area following the incident. Two males, 39 and 22, both of Dover,  were transported to Kent General Hospital for treatment of injuries. A 40-year-old woman drove herself to the hospital with a leg injury. Conditions on the three victims at the hospital were not available said Hoffman.

Shortly after the shooting occurred, large crowds began to gather near the incident location and surrounding areas. Officers from the Camden, Wyoming, Capitol, and Delaware State Police all assisted the Dover Police Department with crime scene security and crowd management.
