Troopers Identify Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident Late Friday

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred in Dover on Friday, Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Heather Pepper.

Pepper said on November 12, 2021, at approximately 11:19 p.m., a black Ford Fusion operated by a 22-year-old male was stopped at the stop sign on Maple Dale Road at Kenton Road, anticipating turning southbound onto Kenton Road. At the same time, a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Abimael Medina-Diaz, 37, of Dover, was traveling northbound on Kenton Road in the area of Maple Dale Road.

The driver of the Fusion pulled onto Kenton Road and began turning left, resulting in the Harley colliding with the left front fender of the vehicle, said Pepper. After impact, the Fusion rotated clockwise and came to rest. The motorcycle was redirected into a northwestern direction, overturned onto its right side, and came to rest along the western edge of the roadway, partially in the front yard of a private residence.

The 22-year-old Ford Fusion driver from Victorville, CA, was transported to an area hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, where he was treated and released.

Medina-Diaz was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died a short time later.
