Woman Gunned Down In Wilmington Succumbs To Her Injuries

Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred at approximately 7:12 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of South Van Buren Street, officials said Monday.

Last evening emergency crews initially responded to S Van Buren Street for reports that two people had been shot. This morning police said that they located a 24-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

While en route to the scene on Sunday, crews were told that CPR was being performed on one of the victims.  A photo provided to FSU captures a Wilmington Police officer performing those life-saving efforts prior to the emergency crew’s arrival.

The woman was transported to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries police said Monday.  Police and rescue crews reportedly responded to a nearby home for reports of a second victim.  Initial reports indicated that a second patient was injured, however, police did not confirm those details Monday morning.

Officials are asking for anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective Brandon Mosley at (302) 576-3646.
