Police: Man Charged With Arson After Kent County House Fire

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has arrested a 20-year-old Houston, Delaware man after a domestic argument resulted in an arson fire, according to Delaware State Fire Marshal Chief Deputy Scott Bullock.

Bullock said at around 4:30 Friday morning a domestic argument occurred between Jesus Goicuria and his girlfriend after a dog became aggressive and bit Goicuria.

The woman retreated to a home in the 1800 block of Blairs Pond Road where Goicuria intentionally set fire to the residence, according to Bullock. The woman was able to extinguish the fire before major damage occurred to the home. The Delaware State Police responded to the residence after Goicuria requested an ambulance for the animal bite.

Delaware State Troopers and Deputy State Fire Marshals took Goicuria into custody at Milford’s Bayhealth campus and transported him to Troop 3 in Magnolia.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office charged Goicuria with Arson 1st degree, and Reckless Endangering 2nd degree. The Delaware State Police also charged him with charges related to the domestic dispute.

Goicuria was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institute on a $8000 secured bond.
