Police: Pair Who Fled Route 1 Accident Released On OR. Facing Drug Charges

Delaware State Police arrested two subjects for property and drug charges following a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Monday afternoon in the Middletown area, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Leonard DeMalto.

DeMalto said on April 25th, 2022, at approximately 3:50 p.m., troopers responded to northbound Route 1 in the area of Drawyers Creek in Middletown, regarding a motor vehicle accident. Prior to the trooper’s arrival, the operator and passenger of a silver Hyundai Elantra that had been involved in the collision had fled the scene on foot.

The driver Danieve Harper, 39, of Middletown and his passenger Tenah Parris, 30, of Penns Grove, NJ, were located a short distance away on North Dupont Parkway said  DeMalto. Both Harper and Parris were taken into custody without incident. A search of Harper revealed that he was in possession of drug paraphernalia, and a search of Parris led to the discovery of approximately 2.47 grams of methamphetamine, approximately .04 grams of cocaine, and approximately 0.063 grams of suspected heroin, and drug paraphernalia said DeMalto.

A computer inquiry of the Elantra revealed that it had been reported stolen by Delaware State Police Troop 9 in October 2021.

Harper and Parris were transported to Troop 9 and charged with the following offenses:

Danieve Harper

Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500 (Felony)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Tenah Parris

Both Harper and Parris were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and released on their own recognizance.
