Free Dinner For First Responders And Healthcare Workers On Thursday

Update: We have clarified with a spokesman with Crab Du Jour – This is an invitation-only event – We’re told that they have already sent the invitations to first responders and healthcare workers.

Crab Du Jour opened its Wilmington, DE location one year ago, and to celebrate the anniversary, the Crab Du Jour team has decided to host a special event to give back to the community. On Thursday, June 9th beginning at 4:30 p.m., the Crab Du Jour location at 2107 Concord Pike in Wilmington at The Shops at Fairfax Shopping Center will pack the restaurant with first responders, hospital employees, and healthcare workers for a complimentary dinner while a local marching band performs, and a number of local mascots entertain those in attendance.

The Cajun seafood boil & bar, which has 85 locations throughout the country, with a few dozen more on the way, was founded in 2019. Late that year, they began feeding first responders and healthcare workers, and then significantly ramped up that initiative once the pandemic hit. Now, they want to give back even more and feed as many doctors, nurses, firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and hospital workers as possible during this event, which will also feature Delaware State representatives and other local civic leaders.

“When we opened in Wilmington, we knew we were debuting in an amazing community that was on the rise,” said Crab Du Jour Vice President Beau Stickley. “That community has supported us, and first responders have supported us all, so this is the least we could do to celebrate our first year in business in Delaware. We’re inviting a band, some mascots, local leaders, and as many first responders and healthcare workers that we can get into the building, and we expect this to be a huge celebration.”

The McKean High School Marching Band, behind band director Kevin Reaves, will perform music during the ribbon cutting and throughout the event, while several local amateur and professional teams’ mascots will be in attendance to entertain the healthcare and police and fire heroes who are able to attend.

Founded in 2019, Crab Du Jour offers fresh, high-quality seafood, steaks, and composed dishes daily. In addition to a variety of fresh crab and fish menu items, the restaurant also offers delicious hush puppies, fried pickles, cheesesteak eggrolls, bourbon steak, coconut shrimp, fried calamari, crab bisque, fried scallops, a variety of po’ boys, crab cakes, wings, along with chicken and cheeseburger sliders. In addition to regularly giving back to the community, the restaurant group participates in donations to various school programs to keep children fed. Learn more at https://crabdujour.com.
