Fiery Crash Sends Two To Trauma Center Saturday

Just before 1:15 Saturday morning, rescue crews responded to an accident in Wilmington.

The incident, which occurred at the intersection of South Market Street and A Street, involved a vehicle that had rolled over and caught fire, with two adult males reported to be trapped inside.

According to initial reports from the scene, the vehicle involved in the accident was traveling when it overturned and burst into flames. The two men inside the vehicle managed to get out. It remains unclear whether their escape was aided by arriving officers or if they extricated themselves.

Upon their arrival, firefighters were met with the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Both occupants were transported to a trauma center by ground ambulance. At least one of the men was in critical condition at the time of transport. The condition of the second individual was not immediately known.

The Wilmington Police Department is investigating the crash.
