Middletown House Fire Injures 1, Displaces 7

On Monday morning at approximately 9:35, fire was reported at a home in the 100 block of Crawford Street, in Middletown. Upon arrival, emergency crews observed smoke coming from the eaves of the home and began firefighting operations.

The incident brought crews from Middletown, Smyrna, Port Penn, as well as New Castle County Paramedics and responders from Kent County, Maryland. During the operation, firefighters reported discovering a victim inside the residence. This individual was subsequently transported to Christiana Hospital, though details regarding the extent of their injuries have not been disclosed.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident was to determine the cause of the blaze. Meanwhile, the Red Cross was contacted to assist seven individuals displaced by the fire.

Firefighting efforts continued until just before 10:20, with nearby fire companies stepping in to cover the region
