Police: Two Charged After Teen Found With Stolen Gun

Two individuals were arrested early Thursday morning, following a report of suspicious activity in the 1000 block of Sandburg Place, New Castle County.

Officials said the incident occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. when Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to a call regarding a group of individuals attempting to open unlocked car doors.

Upon arriving at the scene, Officers observed several suspects fleeing. A foot chase ensued, leading to the capture of two individuals: 18-year-old Ahmed Moustafa and a 15-year-old male.

Authorities said the 15-year-old was found in possession of a stolen handgun and was subsequently transported to New Castle County Police headquarters. He was charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a deadly weapon by a person under 18, possession of ammunition by a person under 18, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm, as well as misdemeanor charges for resisting arrest and second-degree criminal trespass. Following arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 11, he was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Ahmed Moustafa (pictured above), who was also apprehended during the chase, was charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $1,000 unsecured bail.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to assess the situation and determine if additional charges will be filed against other individuals involved in the incident officials said Friday.
