Teen Struck By Gunfire While Riding In Car Early Friday

Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting in New Castle today that left a teenager injured.

Officials said on August 16, 2024, at approximately 12:20 a.m., troopers responded to a shooting at the McDonald’s located at 101 South Dupont Highway in New Castle.

Troopers said that a car was traveling westbound on Christiana Road, approaching Pleasant Place, when it made a U-turn at the intersection. As the car completed the turn, the occupants noticed two unknown black males wearing dark clothing at the intersection, one of whom fired several shots at the vehicle.

The passenger, a 16-year-old, was struck in the thigh. The victims then drove to McDonald’s and called 9-1-1. The injured teen was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver, a 51-year-old man, was unharmed.
