January 7, 2025 · By First State Update News Room

A house fire broke out Tuesday evening in the 200 block of Wynsome Boulevard, leaving one person critically injured and another narrowly escaping harm.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at 5:47 PM following reports of a structure fire with heavy flames visible from the garage. Initial reports indicated two individuals were trapped inside the home—one in the basement and another on the second floor.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that one occupant had exited the building. Crews immediately entered the structure to locate the second individual. Firefighters found the trapped occupant at the top of the stairs and rescued them from the burning home. The victim, whose condition was reported as critical at the time, was transported for medical treatment.

A firefighter sustained minor burns during the operation but did not require hospitalization.

The blaze was brought under control at 6:30 PM. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
