Two people were transported to the hospital Wednesday night after a high-speed crash in Newport.
The crash occurred just before 10:45 in front of the Newport Town Hall at 15 N Augustine Street Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene for reports two individuals trapped in the vehicle, but upon arrival, confirmed only one individual required extrication.
The trapped individual was removed from the vehicle and transported to Christiana Hospital in critical condition. A second individual was also transported to Christiana Hospital.
The crash came shortly after a stolen vehicle matching the description was being pursued through New Castle County. Officials have not said it the crash is connected to the chase
Witnesses at the scene reported a heavy law enforcement presence but could not confirm whether a police chase was underway at the time of the crash.
