Woman Critically Injured In Elkton Monday Morning

File

Just before 11:00 Monday morning, emergency responders from the Singerly Fire Company and Cecil County Paramedics were dispatched to the intersection of Pulaski Highway and South Bridge Street following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that bystanders witnessed the victim, described as a woman in her twenties, being thrown into the air upon impact. Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 1 was requested by arriving units due to the condition of the patient.

Trooper 1 was dispatched to the scene, landing at the nearby Singerly Fire Station’s helipad. The victim was later rerouted to Union Hospital in Elkton, where she is currently believed to be in critical condition.

It is not clear if the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Traffic delays and detours have impacted the area around Pulaski Highway and South Bridge Street as police continue to process the scene and gather evidence. Drivers are urged to avoid the area until further notice.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
