PA Man Charged In Middletown Robbery

MIDDLETOWN, Del. — A Pennsylvania man is in custody following a robbery at a Royal Farms convenience store early Sunday morning.

At approximately 4:40 a.m. on July 28, officers from the Middletown Police Department responded to the Royal Farms located on Middletown Warwick Road for reports of a robbery in progress. According to authorities, 31-year-old Richard Polk of Darby, Pennsylvania, entered the store, pushed a store clerk, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers located Polk nearby shortly after the incident, thanks to information provided by witnesses at the scene. He was taken into custody without incident.

Middletown Police charged Polk with robbery in the second degree, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and providing a false statement to law enforcement. Additionally, he was arraigned on unrelated charges from the Delaware State Police, including unlawful sexual contact in the third degree and offensive touching.

Polk was issued a $13,100 secured bond and is currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
