Three Injured New Castle Accident Wednesday

Three individuals were hospitalized following a motor vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, on West Basin Road near Jay Drive.

New Castle County Paramedics, along with units from Wilmington Manor Fire Company, Goodwill Fire Company, and the Delaware Air National Guard Fire Company, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found two vehicles involved in the crash, a sedan and a minivan.

An approximately 80-year-old woman, who was an occupant of the sedan, sustained serious injuries including trauma to the head and extremities as well as possible internal injuries. She was treated by New Castle County Paramedics and transported in serious condition aboard a Wilmington Manor ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

Another woman, approximately 70 years old and also an occupant of the sedan, was transported by Goodwill Fire Company in stable condition. She suffered extremity injuries and was also evaluated for potential internal injuries.

A third patient, who was traveling in the minivan, was transported to Christiana Hospital by a basic life support ambulance. Details regarding this individual’s condition have not been released.

The Delaware State Police is handling the investigation into the cause of the crash.
