Delaware State Police arrested a 16-year-old male from Wyoming, Delaware, on multiple felony firearm charges following a traffic stop Tuesday night.
Authorities reported that at approximately 8:50 p.m. on October 28, 2025, a trooper observed a motorized scooter without a light traveling along Layton Avenue near Broad Street in Wyoming. The scooter was stopped, and the operator was identified as a 16-year-old male. During the encounter, the trooper noticed a rectangular-shaped object near the teenager’s waistband. When asked whether he was carrying anything, the teen fled on foot.
Following a brief pursuit, the teenager was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search revealed a loaded Polymer 80 9mm handgun without a serial number concealed in his waistband.
The teen was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3, where he was charged with multiple offenses including Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 21 (Felony), Possession of Ammunition by a Person Under 21 (Felony), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony), Possession of an Untraceable Firearm (Felony), Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Operation of a Motorized Scooter on a Public Highway.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center on a $21,200 secured bond, according to Delaware State Police.
