Clerk Held In Headlock At Knifepoint During Robbery Attempt Police Say

Delaware State Police arrested a Wilmington woman Monday afternoon following an attempted armed robbery at a Newark retail store.

According to investigators, the incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. at the Dollar Tree on Churchmans Road. Detectives reported that the suspect, identified as 60-year-old Kimberly Trabbold, entered the store and browsed briefly before approaching a cashier. Police said Trabbold placed the cashier in a headlock, held a knife against the cashier’s back, and demanded that the register be opened.

Employees who witnessed the confrontation intervened and restrained Trabbold until troopers arrived. Authorities said the cashier and other employees were not injured during the incident. Troopers took Trabbold into custody at the scene without further disturbance.

She was transported to Troop 2, where she was charged with attempted first-degree robbery. Following arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 2, Trabbold was committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $25,000 cash bail.
