Six Injured In Odessa Accident Friday

Emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle collision with entrapment Friday afternoon in the Odessa area, resulting in six people being transported to the hospital, including two by helicopter.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:05 p.m. on Old State Road near Old Corbit Road. New Castle County Paramedics and multiple fire and rescue agencies were dispatched to the scene, where responders found a sedan and an SUV involved in a crash with heavy entrapment. Firefighters worked for about 25 minutes to free occupants from the vehicles.

Two patients sustained serious injuries. A 20-year-old female and a 43-year-old female were both reported in serious condition with extremity trauma and possible internal injuries. Both were treated by paramedics and transported to Christiana Hospital by Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 and Trooper 2.

Four additional patients were transported in stable condition. A 15-year-old male and a 14-year-old male were treated for injuries including possible internal trauma and transported by paramedics in ambulances. A 50-year-old male and another 20-year-old female were also transported by local fire company ambulances.

Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including New Castle County Paramedics, Delaware State Police Aviation, Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, Port Penn Fire Company, Odessa Fire Company, and Townsend Fire Company.
