Crash Near Newark High School Sends One To Hospital

Newark – This afternoon Newark Police, along with Aetna’s Engine 9 and Ambulance A-9 responded to the intersection of Library Avenue and E. Delaware (near Newark High school) for reports of an injury accident. Arriving crews found a two vehicle accident involving a black sedan and a construction truck pulling a trailer.

Crews from Aetna evaluated the occupants of both vehicles finding only one injured. A-9 transported a female occupant of the sedan to Christiana Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The impact of the collision caused the construction crew’s vehicle to spin around before coming to rest just feet from a light pole, facing oncoming traffic.  Both vehicles and the trailer had to be towed to heavy damage.

The intersection remained blocked while Newark Police investigated the accident.
