Camden – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit said that around 8:02 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016 as Mark T. Long was operating a 2002 Lexus RX300 northbound on Oak Point School Road approaching Jebb Road west of Camden.
Police said that Long failed to negotiate a moderate left curve and his vehicle started to rotate in counter clockwise direction. As the Lexus rotated, its right side tires dug into the roadway causing it to rollover ejecting both the operator, Mark T. Long and his five year old son. The Lexus left the west side of the roadway and landed on its roof facing in a south direction in a private yard, according to police.
Mark T. Long, 53 of Camden, was transported by ambulance to the Kent General Hospital where he is admitted in critical condition. His passenger was air lifted by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Alfred I. DuPont Children’s Hospital where he is admitted in critical condition. It is believed both the operator and his passenger were not properly restrained. Speed is a factor in this collision.
Oak Point School Road in the area of the crash was shut down for approximately three hours while the collision was investigated. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash.
