On Friday, June 14, 2019, a 60-year-old inmate housed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center (JTVCC) in Smyrna passed away. Earl Combs (DOB 11/11/1958) was pronounced dead at 06:39 a.m. His family has been notified.
Combs was serving a 10-year sentence for two counts of Unlawful Sexual Contact with Victim Under 12 and two counts of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. He began his sentence on 05/31/2013.
Combs’ body was turned over to the State Division of Forensic Science, as is standard procedure.
Foul play is not suspected.
