Georgetown Police have arrested two men during the early morning hours after they were observed damaging and removing money from town parking meters, according to Detective Joey Melvin.
Melvin said on December 2, 2019, at approximately 1:53 a.m., Georgetown Police were patrolling the area of East Market Street and the Circle.
Patrol officers, aware of previous thefts from parking meters in the area of E. Market Street, came upon a male wearing dark clothing. When officers attempted to contact the man he fled on foot, however, he was quickly apprehended in the area of South Race Street.
Georgetown Police located a second individual near the area in a private parking lot who was found to be a co-conspirator, according to Melvin.
Melvin said officers were able to review surveillance footage and confirm the two men had damaged and remove money from town parking meters.
Chad Wilson 34, of Georgetown, was arrested for Felony criminal mischief, Conspiracy, two counts of Theft under $1000 and one count of criminal mischief under $1000. Wilson was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution.
Christopher Marshall 42, of Millsboro was arrested for Resisting arrest, Felony criminal mischief, Conspiracy, two counts of Theft under $1000 and one count of criminal mischief under $1000. Wilson was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution.
