Fire At Selbyville Business Accidental, Investigators Say

The Office of the State Fire Marshal in Delaware has concluded its investigation into the fire that damaged Avalanche Industries yesterday, determining that the cause of the blaze was accidental.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning in the 100 block of Dixon Street in Selbyville. Firefighters responding to the fire were met with an active fire within the building’s attic space.

Deputy Fire Marshals conducted an investigation into the fire and attributed it to faulty electrical wiring, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

Avalanche Industries, a local business that has been part of the community for several years, suffered considerable damage.

Chionchio said the fire left the building heavily damaged and early estimates place the property damage at approximately $20,000.

No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
