Summit Bridge Road Crash Sends Two To Hospital

Bear, DE – The Delaware State Police are investigating a crash with entrapment that occurred on Monday evening, resulting in two individuals being hospitalized.

The incident took place at 9:14 PM at the intersection of Summit Bridge Road (Route 896) and Howell School Road. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, including personnel from Christiana Fire, Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder, New Castle County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4.

A total of three patients were evaluated at the scene. Two of them were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care, while the third individual refused transport. The conditions of the patients have not been disclosed at this time.

In response to the incident, the Delaware State Police issued a statement advising, “Summit Bridge Road (Route 896) near Howell School Road is closed due to a crash. Please seek alternate routes of travel to avoid delays.”
