Three Dead, One Injured In Fiery Crash Saturday

Wilmington Police are investigating a crash that left three people dead and one seriously injured Saturday morning.

At approximately 4:17 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of East 10th Street and North Walnut Street in Wilmington for a reported motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle on fire.

Upon arrival, first responders encountered one vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Initial reports indicated the fire had already consumed much of the passenger compartment.

Preliminary information indicates all three fatalities were located inside the same vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash involved at least one additional vehicle. In that vehicle, one occupant sustained serious injuries and was transported to Christiana Hospital by ambulance.

Authorities have not released the identities of those involved. The circumstances surrounding the crash, including what led up to the collision, remain under investigation.
