Police have released new details in a New Castle stabbing investigation first reported by First State Update on Sunday.
New Castle County Police said officers were dispatched to Hillview Avenue in the Hillview Manor community at approximately 3:03 p.m. on August 9 for a report of a stabbing that had just occurred.
Officers located an adult victim and a juvenile victim suffering from puncture wounds to their upper bodies. Officers provided medical assistance until emergency medical services arrived. Both victims were transported to a hospital, where they were listed in stable condition and are expected to be released.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Unit responded and determined that the incident began during an isolated dispute involving several individuals at another location on Lambson Lane.
During the dispute, police said 19-year-old Jeffrey Reid (R) of New Castle pointed a firearm at several individuals, causing them to flee. As the victims were fleeing, 45-year-old Oral King (L) allegedly became involved in an altercation with them and stabbed both victims officials said.
The injured victims continued fleeing before eventually encountering police officers and emergency medical personnel on Hillview Avenue.
Later that evening, officers located King and Reid and took both into custody without incident. They were transported to New Castle County Police headquarters.
King was charged with two felony counts of first-degree assault, two felony counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and one felony count of noncompliance with conditions of a recognizance bond.
King was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $122,000 cash bail.
Jeffrey Reid is facing multiple felony charges, including four counts of Aggravated Menacing, one count of Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, one count of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, and one count of Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited.
Reid was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $67,000 cash bail.
