Update: Man Trapped In Pike Creek House Fire In Critical

Pike Creek – On Monday April 24, 2017 at approximately 10:15 p.m. the New Castle County Paramedics, Mill Creek, Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder, Five Points, Hockessin, Minquas, Cranston Heights, and Belvedere Fire Companies were dispatched to the unit block of Belmont Drive in the Limestone Hills area of Wilmington for a residential structure fire, according to Paramedic First Class Yvonne T. Russell

Arriving units were met with heavy smoke and flames. Crews quickly determined that a subject was trapped in the home, possibly the garage area. Firefighters were heard calling  for medics over the radio, asking “We’re is my ambulance?”

Upon arrival County Paramedics found the patient, 87-year-old male, removed from the residence by fire personnel. The patient suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation. The patient was transported to Christiana Hospital via Mill Creek Fire Company ambulance. The patient was in serious condition at the time of transport, said Russell.

Reports from the scene indicate that a patient was transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton before being transferred to Crozer Chester Medical Center in Pennsylvania.

Cleanup crews on scene this morning said the fire spread through the house and destroyed two cars in the garage.

State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
