Police: Severely Battered Trooper Involved In Domestic Related Shooting, Boyfriend Shot

Pike Creek – Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a domestic related shooting involving an off-duty trooper, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Gary Fournier.

Fournier said preliminary investigation reveals the incident occurred around 11:12 p.m. Sunday May 21, 2017 when a 9-1-1 call was received from a residence in the 3200 block of Champions Drive stating shots had been fired in the residence.

New Castle County Police and Delaware State Police responded to the address and found an off-duty female trooper severely battered and a male subject (boyfriend) with a gun shot wound to the upper torso, according to Fournier. New Castle County Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the two by EMS to Christiana Medical Center where they are currently being treated.

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said “that Trooper is a good cop”. “She keeps this neighborhood safe”, added the neighbor.
