Police Say Exxon Robbery Suspect Fled In Minivan

Newark – On Monday August 4 2017 at 6:27 pm officers responded to 820 S. College Ave, Exxon, for a robbery that just occurred. The clerk, a 34-year-old male, reported that the suspect approached him and presented an item for purchase, according to Newark Police Spokesman Fred Nelson.

Nelson said the clerk opened the cash register and the suspect then came around the sales counter. The suspect then attempted to remove cash from the register and the clerk attempted to stop him. The two of them began to wrestle with one another, however, the suspect was able to remove an undisclosed amount of cash and flee the store, according to Nelson.  The victim received some minor scrapes and bruises, however, he refused medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 6’00’’, 150 lbs driving a minivan.

Newark – Newark Police officers were on scene last night, Monday September 4, 2017, at the Exxon station located on Route 896 (South Collage Avenue). Onlookers at the scene said they believe the store had been robbed but were not sure.

Multiple police officers were observed standing guard at the scene, with police tape blocking of the entrance to the store.

Reports from the scene indicate that Police officers remained on the scene until late into the evening.

We are awaiting word from the Newark Police Department regarding this incident.
