Just after 7:15 the evening rescue crews from the Talleyville Fire Company, along with New Castle County Paramedics and Delaware State Police have responded to Route 202 near the Fairfax Shopping Center for an injury accident.

Upon arrival, crews found a family of five that were injured after an SUV apparently slammed into their pickup truck.

It’s believed that a pickup truck was rear-ended at the light which caused heavy damage to both vehicles.  Radio report indicated that multiple patients may have been trapped.

It’s believed that all of the injuries are non-life-threatening.

Initial reports from the scene indicated that seven people were injured in the accident. We are working to clarify the number of injured.

Another media outlet is reporting that the driver of the vehicle that slammed into the family is expected to be charged with a DUI, five counts of vehicular assault, drug offenses, offensive touching on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest. We have not confirmed that to be the case.
