Troopers: Pepper Spray Robbery In Newark

The Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Newark area Royal Farms that took place early this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:32 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2019, at the Royal Farms located at 455 Stanton-Christiana Road in Newark. A male suspect entered the business and walked behind the sales counter where he proceeded to remove an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes, according to police. Officials said when confronted by an employee the suspect displayed a canister of pepper spray and threatened to spray the employee. The suspect then exited the business with the property and was last seen fleeing the parking lot in a silver SUV with unknown Delaware tags. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, wearing all dark clothing and a knit hat.
