4th Of July Double Shooting Turns Fatal Late Saturday

Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred at approximately 9:01 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of North Clayton Street.

Initially, crews were dispatched to  Delamore Place where they found a man shot with superficial wounds according to radio reports.  While on scene Wilmington Police advised that additional crews, dispatched to  4th and Clayton, were performing CPR on a gunshot victim.

Police said that a 35-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A 16-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Sources tell First State Update that the double shooting occurred during a Fourth of July block party.

Another man was shot earlier in the evening at 29th and Washington Street on Saturday.
