Happening Now: Fire Rips Through Home In Clayton Sunday – Video

Just before 2:00 Sunday afternoon,  Firefighters from several Kent County fire companies were dispatched to the 100 block of Sunrise Drive in Clayton for a reported structure fire

Responding crews arrived on scene to find heavy fire showing from the rear of a two-story single-family home.

Initial reports indicate that all occupants made it out of the home prior to the firefighter’s arrival. As they began their offensive attack firefighters simultaneously searched all levels of the building for occupants with negative results. Radio reports indicate that a pet dog was pulled from the home during the search. No word on the pet’s injuries.

Two individuals were evaluated at the scene by medical crews, one for possible smoke inhalation and another for glass to the face.

At 2:45 PM, the fire had still not been knocked down, crews reporting that the fire was in the attic and warning of a possible impending collapse.

About 10 minutes later at 2:55, Command placed the fire under control with units working.
