Photos: SWAT Team Surrounds Apartment After Christmas Day Shooting In Newark

New Castle County Police are investigating a Christmas Day shooting in Newark.

At around 7:15 pm on Saturday night, County Police along with rescue crews responded to the 600 block of North Barrett Lane, Barrett’s Run Apartments,  for reports of a shooting.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that one patient was critically injured and transported to the hospital.  Shortly after the patient was transported, residents of the complex reported that a police tactical team arrived on scene with  BearCat armored vehicles.

Police have not released details surrounding the incident, however, residents report that the tactical team remained on scene until around 2:00 Sunday morning.

Residents also tell FSU that the SWAT team was loud hailing a subject over the loudspeaker. They identified the person by name and apartment number, according to one resident. Shortly after the loud hailing stopped a loud noise was heard and the incident began wrapping up.

This is a developing story.
