Officials: Gunshot Victim Denies He Was Shot When Police Show Up

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Saturday afternoon, according to Public Information Office Sergeant Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said officers responded to the 100 Block of S. New Street for a report of shots fired at approximately 2:18 p.m. on January 22nd. Upon arrival, they located a 37-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the left leg.

The victim was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus and later transferred to Christiana Hospital for treatment of his injury. Detectives continue to investigate the case despite the victim being uncooperative, even denying he was shot when officers first contact him.
