Police: Four Charged After Dover Shooting, Chase

The Dover Police Department arrested four subjects involved in a shooting incident on Saturday night at the Kent Budget Motel at 383 N. DuPont Highway, according to Public Information Office Sergeant Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said officers responded to the motel for a report of shots fired at approximately 9:44 p.m. Upon arrival, they were advised that a group of suspects confronted a 26-year-old male victim at the motel, and multiple shots were fired, according to Hoffman.

No injuries resulted from the gunfire. The suspects then fled in a black 2021 Jeep Wrangler with Florida registration.

A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled for a short period before stopping. Officers then took four occupants into custody without incident and located a rifle in plain view in the back seat of the vehicle said Hoffman.

It was later determined that the vehicle had been stolen from a transport trailer that was parked in a vacant lot in the 1000 Block of S. DuPont Highway. The transport operator confirmed that the keys had been left in the vehicle and it was driven off of the transport trailer sometime after 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22nd.
